Unigrid

Layout system for React. KhannaOffice, 2026.

Modules, not percentages. Unigrid is a layout system for React, set on the B-module of the National Park Service publications: 84 by 80, with 12 between columns and 10 between rows. A page holds as many whole modules as fit, centred, and as the window narrows, a composition gives up columns, never its shape.

“No format in the Unigrid System requires any alteration in size of type, maps, or illustrations. Small formats are not miniatures of larger formats.” So the National Park Service’s specification said in 1985, and Unigrid holds to it.

It is made in the lineage of Massimo Vignelli’s Unigrid for the National Park Service, and KhannaOffice has also rebuilt his original system from that 1985 specification. This site is set on it; the grid under this page is the one it uses.
